Our Community

We invest time, treasure and talent where we live and work – giving back to the community is not only central to our mission at Hayco, we believe it’s the right thing to do as individuals.

Whether contributing financially to capital projects like Meridian Place in downtown Barrie or volunteering on various Boards and Committees in Simcoe County, we feel a sense of civic duty and responsibility to our community. This level of involvement allows us to build relationships and develop a deeper understanding of what makes our region special – a sense of belonging and pride that we are all too happy to share with our clients and those considering an investment in our community.

Meridian Place

The result of a Public Private Partnership between the City of Barrie, The Downtown Barrie BIA and Meridian Credit Union, Meridian Place has become the central gathering space for the community. Whether playing host to Remembrance Day ceremonies at Memorial Square, taking in a music concert, or simply enjoying the views from the edge of Kempenfelt Bay, Meridian Place is always buzzing with activity.

Honourary Colonel

Honorary Colonel Wayne Hay was appointed as Honorary Colonel of Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering, Borden in March 2020. In the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Honorary Colonels have been appointed for the prominence they hold in the community but more importantly as a mark of esteem.

Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA)

The Business Improvement Area (BIA) consists of commercial properties and their non-residential tenants within a defined boundary. Working in partnership with the City of Barrie, the Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) focuses its efforts into maintaining a strong and vibrant community within downtown Barrie for property owners, business owners, residents, visitors and tourists alike.

MacLaren Art Centre

As a cornerstone of culture for Barrie, the MacLaren is a visual arts centre that adds to the social, intellectual, creative and economic fabric of the communities across Barrie and the region. It is a central meeting place, a destination for visitors from across the province, and a catalyst for downtown revitalization contributing to the success and vitality of this area.
